How the Session Works:

Our critique sessions are led by a professional artist to guide the group. Three artists may pre-register as presenters by email to info@omertaarts.org with any additional time potentially allotted to others who dropped in. This fall season will be led by an Omerta Arts studio resident, illustrator / fine artist, Tannie Smith.

Regardless of whether this is one of your first critiques or you are sharing the 2,000th piece of art you’ve made, the tone of the night will be collegial and tuned to your distinct project goals.

To get the most out of the session:

An artist arrives curious, optimistic, and seeks to widen their level of appreciation for varying views, skill levels, and styles. They understand that they have not signed up for a ‘yes-man’ praise session, and take nothing personally doing their best to leave ego and delicate sensibilities at the door. They are eager to reflect and connect, keeping comments brief enough so others may do so as well.

Are other’s allowed to attend?

Yes! Bring a friend!
Art appreciators are also quite welcome to sit in. Participation in the discussion is not required. Attending an artist critique as a fly on the wall is a great way to develop a visual vocabulary and begin to start a more intentional collection of art. Join us and help us grow our amazing artist community.

Is it really free?

Yes.
However we’ll pass the hat / QR code for donations of any amount to help keep the place open. Thanks for being part of the effort to support Helena’s Creative Capital.

In depth hour-long individual studio critiques are available with a seasoned Omerta Arts mentor as a separate package. Inquire at info@omertaarts.org
